Tambourah Metals’ high-grade hits unlock Baxters Sth gold potential
  •  4m at 41.7g/t gold returned from the weathered zone
  • Fresh rock returned 3m at 35.5g/t gold
  • Follow-up work will help map the gold system at Baxters Sth

Special Report: Tambourah Metals’ Baxters Sth prospect at its Bryah gold project in WA is delivering the goods after drilling returned several high-grade intersections, including a new discovery of primary gold in fresh rock.

The initial two-hole reverse circulation drilling program at the prospect tested below historical intersections with BXRC26002 returning an outstanding intersection of 4m at 41.7g/t gold from a downhole depth of 55m, including 1m at 146.5g/t gold.

Hole BXRC26001 provided another level of excitement.

Besides a shallower interval of 6m at 9.5g/t Au from 64m, Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) noted that it also intersected 3m at 35.5g/t Au from 169m in fresh rock.

This intersection of primary gold within a broader zone of weak sulphide mineralisation represents a new discovery with orientation to be determined.

Investment and central-bank buying helped support gold demand in the first half of 2026, when total demand, including over-the-counter activity, rose 2% year-on-year to 2,522 tonnes.

High gold prices continued to weigh on jewellery volumes, the World Gold Council reported.

More drilling to come

The results came from a seven-hole reverse circulation drilling program at Baxters South and Beatty Park Sth, in the Murchison region.

At Baxters Sth, two holes tested beneath a historical intersection in the Ravelstone Formation, about 4.3km south of the Harmony gold mine.

The shallow high-grade gold sits in clays around a redox zone, while the deeper result cuts silicified shale with trace fine-grained sulphides in fresh rock.

Planned work at Baxters Sth includes aircore drilling to map the supergene gold, microscopic examination of the fresh-rock mineralisation and magnetic modelling to estimate the depth to the Narracoota Formation.

That work should help TMB determine how the gold is distributed and where to test next, including at the deeper geological contact.

At Beatty Park Sth, five RC holes returned limited anomalous gold, with a best result of 4m at 2.29g/t gold from surface.

The separate EIS co-funded diamond drilling tested below high-grade aircore gold intersections, with core now being logged and sampled.

“We look forward to the next phase of exploration drilling to gain a greater understanding of the extent of the gold mineralisation at Baxter Sth,” geology manager Bill Clayton said.
